Endings…

June 30, 2008

My elephant hunting has been a bit… off this weekend, hasn’t it? In that I haven’t really been on the lookout for any, I’ve been busy with other bits and bobs. First off, I spent Friday morning in a sound recording booth doing ADR (Aditional Dialouge Recording, basically it was a voice over) with James Diamond for my Heart film.

James has become the go-to guy for voice-overs of late, providing them for a number of documentary’s made around the studio in the last few weeks. Getting all the work finished, I was amused by the way in which James said the word ‘Cloisters’, and had him say a little peice for the site, but then didn’t get a chance to put it on here – ‘cos I don’t know how.

This also symbolises the end of my first year at uni, and ahead of me stretches four mounths of summer. It’s nice. I’ll be bored within the month – just you watch.

This weekend at work, we had in Kai Owen from Torchwood, Hattie Hayridge from Red Dwarf and Ian Fairbairn who was an extra in a number of Doctor Who’s and is now reading H P Lovecraft CD’s. All three were a delight to have around, and every one who came seemed glad to meet them.

I shall resume elephant hunting later in the week! The safari must go on!

Day 18 in the Big Hamster Cage…

June 25, 2008

I’ve got a hamster cam update. And also another few Elephants for you. Lets do the hamster stuff first, shall we?

Last night was the noisest she’s been since we got her, but this morning she’s a little bundle of energy, pottering about her cage, trying to escape. Point is; she’s cute. ok?

As I type, she’s eating her bedding. Bless. We’ve had her about three weeks now, and absolutely adore her. :) not sure who’s going to look after her when me and Stevie jet off to Cyprus in a few weeks, but we’ll find someone. Mind you, the amount of food she stores, there’s probably enough to see her through the week…

In elaphatine news; went and snapped a few more last night down at the riverside;

I realise probably very few people actually care that I’m trying to find all the elephants, but heck, gives me something to do. I’ve been tipped off to one on King Street, so I’ll keep an eye out on my way down to the studios today.

Editing on the Heart Film is pretty much complete, we just need to record a voice over (the one we filmed on location is FAR to echo-y) and work out some music for it. Hopefully we’ll get both those parts done today, and then it’ll all be done with!

Expect more elephant posts in the next few days!

The Hunt Goes On!

June 24, 2008

I’ve been wandering the city today and I’ve come across a number of new elephants! Below are my new ones;

Yes, I know, I do alot of walking. I bought one of the guide books today (hey, the money goes to a good cause, check it out – www.goelephants.co.uk) but I don’t plan to look at the map yet, ‘cos I’m enjoying finding them where I don’t expect. I was wandering the cloisers at the cathedral this morning and happened to stumble upon one. woo!

In other news, I’ve passed my course for the year, so all is good in the terms of film-making! More elephant updates soon!

June 23, 2008

The city is full of elephants. Painted elephants. Red ones, blue ones, one painted Ipswich colours placed right outside the football ground – that won’t last long. Literally, they’re everywhere. Right outside my work there’s a cubist, post-modern elephant. A little part of me likes to think that one day, in the 36th century, when student film-makers are busy making holo-films, that all animals will look like that.

So here’s the thing. I’m intrigued by this. You don’t often find elephants sat around the city. So I’m keeping a tab on them. Behold the first post in my series of safari-like elephant hunting exploits. Today is special. Because today, I’ve found shed-loads. Without even looking, they were just there on the way to work, so enjoy!

Just an FYI – I’m informed that there are 53. Dotted all around the city. I honestly don’t know if I’ll find them all. I’d like to think that I will, but then knowing me there’ll be one somewhere I’m not expecting – like West Pottergate. I’d pop over to tourist information and get the map of them, but I hate looking like a tourist.

OH! And yes, I know there’s one in a city football kit outside the Odeon on Riverside, I’ll wander down to it when I get time.

In proper, film-making news, Editing is continuing on the Heart Project film, and should be complete by the end of the week. I’m sure I’ll have it up online soon enough. I’m going to be sorting out either the YouTube page that I currently operate from or create a new one so that my more recent work can be uploaded for viewing. We’ll see, I have a long, hot summer stretching ahead, I’ve got time to think about all the little things like this.

You will also note that the blog has had a re-design. It’s all shiny and new now. Why? As much as I love the red-black look, it just makes the page look bad. So here we go, shiny and white. So there.

Told you it was on its way, didn’t I?

The film features Stevie Chambers and Will Brooks, and features music from Cindi Lauper. The film will be released worldwide online at the end of the June.

The film follows hot on the heels of Brooks’ previous work, including Danny’s Girl, starring Melita Morgan, released at the end of last year.

and also, just ‘cos I’m nice, I’m gonna give you a look at the poster, too.

Today’s the Day…

June 11, 2008

So. Today is the day that i ‘lock’ everything off on my film. The edit was completed yesterday, music tracks added. Today I burn it to a disk and it’s ready. I’m pleased with it. It’s not what I expected to to be, for better of for worse, it’s finished now, and I’m happy with it. While you wait for more news (there’s a press release coming, promise) Here’s another few images to whet your appetite.

And a quick shot of the edit;

Hamster Cam;

Ok, Hamster Cam. I was thinking that over the summer – when I won’t be making a film 9well, maybe one, don’t know yet) I need somethign to draw people to my blog. So I bought a hamster and devised Hamster Cam. The hamster’s been named ‘Ood’ and lives here with Stevie and me. She’s only escaped once, and she won’t do it again. I hope. Look for Big-Brother style updates about her soon. In the mean time, here’s a cute picture of her cuddled up in Stevie’s hands;
