More NERD updates!

July 31, 2008

So I’m writing the NERD script as we speak… or type… and I’m pleased with progress. Filming is now pencilled in for 4 days in a few weeks time.

On the subject, more casting news. We’re pleased to welcome back Becky Collins to the role of Jenny. Becky first joined the NERD team right back at the beginning in the summer of 2006, and it’s great to have her back on board for the special!

Expect a full update this weekend, with an exerpt from the script. If you’re lucky. Which, lets face it, you will be. :p

NERD Special Confirmed!

July 29, 2008

Ahem. I’m glad – no, proud – to announce that a NERD special is on its way. For thos eof you who don’t know what ‘NERD’ is, here’s a brief run-down;

In 2006, I had the idea for a short webiseries entitled NERD. A sitcom about a group of nerds, the show entered production in July with a special music video – a nerd version of the Sandi Thom song ‘I wish I was a Punk Rocker’, called ‘I wish I was a Vulcan, yeah’. From there the shoe gained a large cast and went on to production for the rest of the Summer.

Resuming college in September brought the breaks on for a bit, but the show continued in development hell untill mid-2007. The cast changed and grew as time went by, adding new characters to the NERD universe, including a special cameo from BBC Radio host Roy Waller (now sherrif of Norwich!) in which we got the chance to trash a BBC radio studio. It was fun.

Various things kept getting in the way of the production – including college on a frequent basis. However, it’s now been decided that the people who’ve waited so patiently for NERD (for TWO YEARS no less) will be rewarded.

We’re putting together a script for a one-hour NERD special. The special is going to be availible on DVD, with many of the scenes filmed over the last few years, allong with a commentary and other extras. THe script is currently being written by myself and should enter production for two weeks in late August.

I’m pleased to confirm the return of Ciaran Fallon as David Ripmav, a key part of the NERD mythos. I’m also glad to welcome two new faces to the NERD universe – Stevie Chambers will be taking the role of Suzie, and Alex Guttridge will be filling the role of Danny. That’s about all i can give away at the moment, but things will be updated and changed as time goes by – so keep your eyes on the blog here for updates and news!

Here Comes the Sun…

July 24, 2008

…or, rather, there it goes. Hello. I’m on an air plane. Just over the Agean sea right now. Won’t be by the time I post this – by then I’ll be back in Norwich (There’s no wireless up here. Go figure) but as I type I’m a fair few feet off the ground. Thought I’d better update with holiday news, since I didn’t get the chance to over the week in Cyprus.

We got some filming done for the ‘Doctor Who’ trailer that Miss Stevie and myself are making at the moment – filmed down in some catacombs in the boiling heat – looks very Egyptian, very pyramid-y. The trailer is an on-going project, so I have no idea when it will be view-able, but we’ve scouted locations in the UK for other times and places!

Taking a holiday was great, I can’t deny. It’s been over a year since the last one and I felt that I needed the chance to get away to the sun for a few days. We got the chance to go in the sea, which was a nice change, all the seas around my house are grey and dirty. The waves were huge at times, so we had good fun walking into them and trying to remain upright!

This is nice, we just got given breakfast, so I get to type over a nice sausage and bacon. Woo! I love air plane meals! Having a pool was nice, too. I know there’s one like a two minute walk from my house, but it’s not the same as having one just out side your apartment.

Anyway, it’s back to the usual now. Before today ends, we’ve got to go do the shopping (there’s nothing in the house), go get some Pepsi, I want to get a few other bits. It’s back to the usual grind straight away. Ah well, it’s been nice while it lasted, and we’re looking at going back out to the apartment next year.

In other news – the local newspaper in Cyprus had an article about the Norwich elephants, which was unusual. Still got two to track down, so I should probably get around to those two sometime soon!

Off to the sunset…

July 15, 2008

So tomorrow morning I fly with Miss Stevie out to Cyprus for a week. I do intend to update the blog while there, but it’s weather I’ll get a chance to… So I thought I’d say bye for a week here.

I’ve got two more elephants to upload, but my phone wire isn’t working. Go figure. So you’ll just have to wait until I return.

The End Draws Close…

July 9, 2008

I’m only four Elephants away now from completion… and only a week away from jetting off to Cyprus for a break and some filming… The hunt is drawing to a close…

First off, I’ve got hold of one Sony handcam,one of the HD cameras we use at the studios (thanks to a very generous birthday gift) so I will be able to continue film-making away from the studios over the summer.

Second off, I’m going to be filming some bits and bobs on holiday, and I’ll be attempting to update the blog as I go. I’m told that there’s internet access at the apartment (or near by) so I’ll see what I can do. Are European USB sockets the same as UK ones?

Thirdly, my logo for our sho’s summer competition ‘Pimp my Dalek’ has been approved. So here it is;

The competition is going to involve buying a plain white or plain grey Dalek and making your own design. Either re-painting it, or completely changing it. I’m currrently working on a time-lord style Dalek, or maybe one in brown pin-stripes…

And lastly, here’s my latest four elephant finds;

The Hunt Goes on!

July 4, 2008

I can’t think of a witty title this time… anyway. Someone has vandalised the parallelaphant! It’s been removed ‘to be returned’. Why do people do that? Go join the facebook group for it. Go on. Anyway, I’ve been out about the city today (hot, isn’t it?) and I’ve been able to see the ’schools elephants’ – a collection of mini elephants painted by various schools across Norfolk. They’re all kept in the old ‘bear factory’ shop in the Castle Mall – take a look. There’s shed loads, far too many to post here like I usually do, so here’s all of them in mini-form;

I’ve also tracked down another three ‘big’ elephants;

I’ve yet to have a chance to upload the video of Ood hanging from her cage, but here’s a picture of the little critter, mostly just to prove she’s still alive… =S

I’ve spent the morning designing the logo for an upcoming competition we’re going to be holding at our shop. Without giving too much away, I’m gonna use the words ‘Pimp’ ‘my’ and ‘Dalek’. Watch this space.

PS; just as an aside it’s my birthday on Monday. Don’t forget, will you?

Casualties of the Hunt!

July 3, 2008

I’ve got another eight or nine elephants to add, Stevie and me went for a late night hunt around the city that took us right out to the Cathedral, the one that isn’t near our house. It started out as just a little walk, but I managed to keep dragging her along with a simple ‘Well, since were this side of the city… there’s an elephant just over there…’. Bless. The hunt goes on. I only have about 14 more to get now, and a few of those I’m going to be tracking down today, so the hunt almost is over. Anyhoo, here’s the latest;

Eight, Nine, Elveven. I loose track. Still, the hunt draws to it’s end pretty soon. But first! BREAKING NEWS! Well, almost. The first damage has been taken to the elemephants. The one outside Top Shop has been removed, the plinth fenced off and rather nice signs have been attatched that read;

One of our elephants is missing!

We are sorry – this elephant has been damaged by vandals. Our

ele-vets will be rushing this elephant back to health and it will be back

on the streets as soon as possible.

Can’t say I’m surprised, and I think that there will be a number more tasks for the ‘ele-vets’ to perform, knowing what the people (read; chavs) of this city are like.

In Hamster-Cam news, Ood has become something of a daredevil, she’s taken to climbing to the roof of her cage and hanging on until, well, until she falls off. I have a video of it which will be uploaded in the next day or two. Probably. Maybe.
