Metal mutts and elephant tales…

September 23, 2008

So Saturday has been and gone, and we had a great day with John Leeson and Deborah Watling. My new favorite signing event is answering the phone to the voice of K9 saying ‘hello, I’m John Leeson, and I’m lost of an industrial estate…’. I think that may have made my day, you know!

In other news, I spent Sunday at the now-anual Clay Pidgeon Shooting event in gresseanhall. I’d not shot for about a year, but hitting half my targets was good enough for me.

Anyway, Today, the elephants go marching off, two by two. Well, they’ll go two by two if someone buys two, anyway. Yes, today is the auction of the elephants that guarded our fine city this past summer. There’s still two which I’ve yet to photograph, but they’re on display at the fourm today, so expect that to change by about noon! Shall update with images tomorrow!

Hamster Cam Update!

September 14, 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve updated with news on little Ood, our hamster, but I thought I’d pop online and share with you this cute little picture of her being… well… bieng Ood like, really.

We;re still glad we chose this one – even if she does spend the whole of the night on her wheel. Bless her.

Anyway, my return to university draws ever more near, so be prepared for what I hope will be a sharp up-turn in posts on here. Back in the last term there was something to report every other day. I wanna get that back! Regular posts!

In other news, I’d like to remind people that John Leeson (The voice of K9) will be appearing at the shop next Sat, so do pop along and say hi to him!

OH! And we’ve just confirmed a return to the shop by Tom Baker – who will be poping back down to celebrate our one year in October.

The Cogs Are Turning…

September 7, 2008

So as September rolls in, the start of my second year studying a film and video degree rolls closer. Our first ten weeks (spanning late september – early December) will make up a Beyond the Screen unit, lookin at the way film may be presented in such places as galleries. I’ve allready started building an idea – I’m just trying to iron out a few kinks. Hopefully, if all goes according to plan then I’ll have it up here on the blog, looping like a gallery would do.

I intend with my second year to keep the blog far more updated with the intricities of day-to-day life on the course. No doubt you’ve noticed a fair lack of updates over the last two months, and quite simply it’s because there’s been nothing to report. Once the second year begins there’ll be thirty different student films, all being made at once, obviously I’ll keep you up-to-date on the production of mine, but also As I work on anyone elses film! Term starts September 29th – so be prepared!

Another update; sadly the ‘NERD’ special has been postponed for now. Fitting for NERD, we’ve been un-able to scedule all the different actors and locations needed to get the film together. THe cast are all still fully looking forward to a reunion – and the script has been written – it’s just on the back burner for now. Hopefully we’ll get this going sometime, probably closer to Christmas.

Polish Those Badges…

September 3, 2008

The kind people down at the BBC in London have invited me to go and spend a day in October in the Blue Peter studio! It’s going to be a fantastic chance to get behind the cameras of a live TV production! I’ll have a full report to place right here, plus it’s a Blue Peter Badge chance! Thing is, I already have a Blue Peter badge, so hopefully it’s a chance for a silver one!

Considering that I’ve wanted to be a Blue Peter presenter since I was 4… well… one step closer!
